In the meantime, allow water to boil in the bottom part of the puttu maker. Puttu is a very familiar food of Kerala. Putt/steamed rice cake can be made with rice, wheat flour. This puttu/steamed rice cake is made with rice flour and minced meat.

Instructions to make Puttu (Steamed rice flour cake):
  1. Take puttu flour in mixing bowl. Add salt as required. Sprinkle water little by little and and bring to crumble stage. Use two hands to do this.
  2. Take puttu maker add water in the bottom vessel and let it boil unto bubbling stage. Now take the top part add the flour bottom layer, add grated coconut, add again flour, again coconut. Repeat this until top of the vessel. Close with lid.
  3. Place this over the boiling vessel. I attached the picture how it looks. When you see the steam starts coming from the top hole.
  4. Switch off the flame, take the wide plate slowly push the puttu outside from the bottom. You can serve this with ghee, grated coconut and sugar. I strongly recommend palm jaggery. If you don't like sweet you can prepare some gravy and have it. Chickpea gravy, sprouted green moong and banana goes very good.. #mycookbook
