- Cover the dish with foil and bake for about 45 minutes until the potatoes are tender. Remove the foil, sprinkle over the grated cheese and bake with grill on until golden and melted, about 10-15 minutes.
Pour the cream over the top and shake the dish to distribute evenly. Layer slices of potato in an overlapping pattern on the bottom of the prepared casserole dish. Pour spinach mixture over top of potatoes. Drain fat; add onion, mushrooms and garlic, cooking until tender. Stir in spinach and nutmeg; cover and cook until heated through, stirring occasionally.
