In north india this whole wheat flour halwa is also served with puris on occasion like N avratri.

The ingredients needed to make Wheat flour sheera:
- Prepare 250 gms wheat
- Prepare 1 cup sugar
- Get as needed water
- Take 3/4 cup desi ghee
Add in nuts and raisan and fry till golden. Heat the ghee in a heavy bottomed kadai or pan. Add whole wheat flour to the hot ghee and start roasting it. Meanwhile, take sugar and water in another pan.
Instructions to make Wheat flour sheera:
- Wash and soak wheat for about 24 hours
- Now drain it and grind soaked wheat into mixer grinder by adding some water
- Pour mixture into a bowl and rest for whole night
- Remove excess water from mixture and strain it into strainer and keep it into sunlight on cotton cloth
- Add dried sheera and sugar in a bowl by adding some water and rest for 15 minutes
- In a kadai add desi ghee and mix of sheera and sugar stir continuously otherwise stick in bottom
- While collect from sides and smells comes switch off flame and transfer it into a bowl sheera is ready for serve
Add whole wheat flour to the hot ghee and start roasting it. Meanwhile, take sugar and water in another pan. Keep this pan on a medium to high flame and let the solution come to a boil. Atta is made from wheat hence this is called wheat halwa. Here aate ka halwa is the Punjabi term, while in Gujarati it is called 'Gau no sheero'.
